    Title:
    LX2 SM58 Transmitter
    Description:

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but here goes:

So i have an old LX2 SM58 Wirless Handheld that no longer works.  I want to fix it, but not sure how to go about it myself.

The problem:  It seems to drop signal.  When I speak into it, I sound chopped off, like if someone was muting and unmuting me at the mixer as i'm talking (that's the best way to describe it).  It's not a rapid on and off.. I would have no sound for about 3 seconds, and then you can hear my voice again.

I noticed that when I hold that transmitter tightly, close to the cartridge to be exact, that's when it would function correctly. But if I hold the microphone by the body (normal hand placement) or anywhere else, I lose connection.  Now, the microphone doesnt even sound sometimes unless i press down on the grill to make the cartridge have contact with the handheld.

How do I fix it?  Is it the cartridge? is the the receiver (LX4)?

    Thank you in advance!

    Kenneth

Hello, I'll answer best I can. The LX2 was an older VHF system that was discontinued around 2004. It is difficult to say with certainty what is happening. It could be a strong interfering radio signal in the area, like a local TV station. Or there could be something mechanically wrong with the microphone capsule connection to the handle/transmitter section. Please contact our Service Department to see if there are any repair options at this time. 1-800-516-2525.
